Your safety

Is this email really from us?

Scammers copy real companies' emails. Here's how to tell ours apart — and what to do when you're not sure.

Our emails always

From an @smartcloudmn.com address

Billing emails come from billing@smartcloudmn.com, noreply@smartcloudmn.com or support@smartcloudmn.com. Look at the address itself, not just the name shown.

Links to our own sites

Our buttons go to smartcloudmn.com (www.smartcloudmn.com or my.smartcloudmn.com, your portal) — or, to take a card payment, to Stripe, our card processor (invoice.stripe.com or checkout.stripe.com). Hover over a button, or press and hold it on a phone, to see where it goes before you tap.

Details only we know

Your name, your membership, the invoice number and the exact amount, and the last four digits of the card on file. A scam email rarely has these right.

A link that only does one thing

An "Update your card & pay what's due" link works for 14 days, for your account only. It can put a card on your account and pay what's past due — nothing else.

We will never

  • Ask for your full card number, your password or a verification code by email, text or phone call.
  • Ask you to pay with gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or a payment app.
  • Rush you with threats like "your account closes today". A late payment gets a reminder, then a call.
  • Ask you to install remote-access software unless you called us or booked a session — and then we give you the code ourselves.

Not sure? Don't click.

Open your portal yourself by typing my.smartcloudmn.com into your browser, or call us at 651-240-4313 — the number on this website, not one from the email. You can also forward the email to support@smartcloudmn.com and we'll tell you if it's ours.
